Later developed and financed family expansion into the iron industry, forming Thomas Butlin and Co, Wellingborough. 1062 Started with tenancy of farmland in lower part of Spratton. In 1925 accepted 10 year tenancy of Spratton Grange Farm to which he moved with his family. No 11 Yew Tree Lane was then let to the Copson family until 1935, who kept poultry. 1935 saw return of Hammonds to this cottage following the national difficulties in farming, In 1936 however he took the tenancy of Vicarage Farm (including the 5 1/2 acres between Church Street and Welford Road) which was held until his death in 1962. The land then reverted to the Church, it being subsequently sold for building and now including the residences on Glebe Road. HAMMOND, Harry (I2788)
