1950s - Kings Head when a Phipps 'house'
Fred Turnell was the landlord in the 1940s, being followed by Jeff Tite in 1953.
The Baptist Chapel is below the pub; and beyond that (before Saul) used to be a haberdashery (Mrs Burrows); then for a short while a fish & chip shop. The house on the east corner of Yew Tree Lane was a bakery and grocer's shop, until the 1920s, run by Thomas Turner and his wife Agnes.
